EASY TRIM REMOVAL Rand McNally / Star Label was thrilled to replace its cumbersome and inefficient trim removal system with Vortec Transvectors. A major printing operation,
Rand McNally / Star Label prints concert tickets and pressure sensitive labels that require a die-cut perforation. The by-product is a continuous strip of
trim that must be pulled away from the press area.
A take-up roller was installed to wind up the trim for disposal, but the trim is flimsy and
extremely difficult to control and tends to fall off the roller path. Each time this happened, the press had to be stopped. A press that is not running is losing money.
SOLUTION: Vortec's seemingly age old solution to this problem was 903 Transvectors at removal locations. Once fed into the throat of the 903, the trim is pulled
away to a disposal area. The maintenance manager now plans to have the trim fed directly into a ”chopper” for continuous disposal of the byproduct.
OTHER APPLICATIONS IN PAPER INDUSTRY Manufacturer
of sterile surgical packs uses a 904 Transvector to carry away rejected product.
Paper converter uses 921-12 (12”) Curtain Transvector to cool a calendaring roll used to
press cardboard flat during a box manufacturing process.
Paper Converter uses a 921-24 (24”) Curtain Transvector to dry glue that has been
applied to a moving sheet of paper during the manufacture of large paper bags.
Manufacturer of labels uses a 921-6 (6”) Curtain Transvector to cool down the surface of an ultraviolet lamp in a printing press.
Publisher uses a 981-6 (6”) Ionizing Curtain Transvector to neutralize static, stabilize and blow down sheets of paper after exit from a sheet fed press.
Converter of paper products uses a 208-15-H Vortex Tube to cool down a punch used to cut liners for bottles.
